Charity! Poverello + De Varens + La Trappe

The independent beer tasters of Bruges support Poverello in Bruges every year. These people are having a hard time making ends meet every day. The profit made from the returned BAB-tasting glasses, is turned into a lovely meal offered to those Poverello people. So you can help to fund this initiative too!

‘De Varens’ is an institute for individual education. They’ve found a new place to stay in Heist on the premises of the old fishing school. There they will start their educational program for youngsters with autism in the accommodated buildings. Every year ‘de Varens’ also organizes a week-out-of-school for all their pupils. During this week the children can choose out of a range of activities to spend this week together. This event is financially tough. Because of the BAB charity action, last year was a wonderful experience. The children went to the movies, to the gym and drove along the coast in go-carts. The BAB received a photo-album and lots of gratitude for their financial contribution. For 2009 the BAB hopes to do something similar.

Also, the Dutch Trappist brewery Koningshoeven exists 125 years! In honour of this special occasion, they have developed La Trappe Isid'Or, named after the first brewer of La Trappe, Father Isidorius. The money made by selling this beer will go entirely to a brandnew Monastry in Uganda. That's why BAB is delighted to serve this beer at the third Beer Festival of Bruges.
