Trappist beer is beer brewed by Trappist monks of the Order of Cistercians. The name "Trappist" is derived from "La Trappe", one of the founding abbeys of the Trappist order in France. The Trappist beers, brewed by monks, are globally praised for their craftsmanship, daring, deep flavour and non-commercial approach. The non-commercial approach is the reason why there are only eight Trappist beers left in the world.
